BCAC/St.Virgilius Tyros Split Doubleheader

The BCAC/St. Virgilius Tyro softball team split a doubleheader against Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Whitestone last week.

In the first game Blessed Sacrament would score two runs in the first inning and 5 runs in the fifth for a 7-0 St Virgilius loss. In the second game the girls would not allow Blessed Sacrament any slack.

In the first inning, Caitlin Mammes hit a deep shot to centerfield for a three run home run. Second inning action saw Christina Servello hit a triple to score Shannon Minihane for a run, Maureen Kelly a double to score another and Kaitlin Manzi ground into a fielders choice to drive in the third run of the inning and a 6-0 lead. Servello;'s double in the third inning drove in Patricia Kelly and Casey Gallagher. Blessed Sacrament would score four runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to make the game 8-5. Christina Servello's double drove in Patricia Kelly and Katie McIntyre in the fifth inning as BCAC increased the score 10-5.

St. Virgilius win would eventually hold to win the game 10-7. The girls' next four games are home at Memorial Field. On April 27, they play St. Matthias at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. On May 4, they play at St. Stans at 2:25 and 4:00 p.m.
