      The festivities of the Queens County Rockaway Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade were thoroughly enjoyed by the athletes, parents, friends and coaches of the St. Camillus Special Olympics/Rockaway Beach Special Athletics Team. The group got a jump start with a delightful Irish breakfast at the home of Susan and Denis Brady.

      The St. John's Prep softball team made the long crosstown journey from Astoria to Fort Tilden on Tuesday trying to erase a streak that they haven't been proud of. Host Stella Maris knew what was at stake. For a young squad who struggled out of the gate at 0-5, Lady Flippers coach Jim DeAngelo knew that he didn't want his team to experience a back-breaking moment.

H.S.Roundup: Pearson Steps On Garden Center Stage
      Christ the King High School's Ryan Pearson will take his high flying basketball act to the world's most famous arena this weekend. Pearson, who led the Royals in scoring with 23.2 points per game, and was selected to the CHSAA All-City First team as a senior, was selected to play in the 2008 Jordan Brand Classic on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

BCAC/St.Virgilius CYO Tyros Sweep Holy Family
      The Broad Channel Athletic Club/St. Virgilius CYO Tyro Girls softball team opened the 2008 season by winning both sides of a doubleheader against Holy Family. The BCAC girls opened up in the first inning by scoring three runs on RBIs by Kaitlin Manzi, Caitlin Mammes and Nancy Soloman.

Empire State Tryouts
      The first basketball tryouts for the Empire State Games Scholastic girls' team will start on Wednesday, May 7 at Bishop Ford High School at 7 p.m. Tryouts are open to all basketball players throughout New York City. The 31st Empire State Games will take place in Binghamton from July 23 to 27 at the University of Binghamton campus.
