Seasonal Bridges And Tunnel Officer Positions Available
MTABridges and Tunnels is seeking students to work as Seasonal Bridge and Tunnel Officers (BTO) collecting tolls. Seasonal BTO's are required to work in all weather and climate conditions and must be able to lift and carry items of varying weight and size safely through toll facilities including lanes active with vehicular traffic. The MTA has certain medical, physical and psychological qualification standards that applicants must meet.
In order to qualify, the student must be currently enrolled as a fulltime high school senior or full-time at an accredited college or university; be at least 18-years-of-age by June 30, or by the date of the first day of work; possess a high school diploma or GED by the date of the first day of work; possess a valid unrestricted New York State driver's license; not have felony convictions; be a US citizen and be a New York State resident; referred by an MTA employee or submit a written recommendation from a current teacher on school letterhead or on the form included in the application; be available for full-time summer work, including weekends, holidays, evenings and overtime as assigned; and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Students hired through the program will act as toll collectors on either the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge or the Marine Parkway - Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge.
The summer employment application filing period is until April 18.
