Busted For Sexual Assault
AFar Rockaway man was arrested in Manchester, Connecticut last Tuesday after police responded to a frantic 911 call from a woman who said that she had been raped. When the call ended abruptly, police attempted to call her back but the call would not go through.
Officers who tracked the call and responded to the house found "an extremely distraught" 19-year-old female who was naked and screaming and who claimed that she had been raped by an acquaintance, who then fled the scene, Lieutenant Chris Davis, a spokesperson for the town police said.
The visually-impaired woman identified the man as Far Rockaway resident Peter Green, who had driven with her from New York City after her treatment for an optical problem. She provided a description of Green to the police.
Police immediately began a manhunt for Green in the immediate neighborhood.
A police K-9 Unit was called in. As a precaution, two local elementary schools were locked down and searched because of their proximity to the scene.
Shortly afterward, police found Green, 33, hiding behind a shed on a nearby street. Police say he was taken into custody without resistance.
Green was held on bail of $250,000 on charges of sexual assault, assault on a disabled person, unlawful restraint, strangulation and interference with an emergency call.
He was arraigned on those charges on Wednesday in Superior Court in Manchester.
