Eleven year old John Regan of Breezy Point celebrated his birthday with a pollution party. He invited all of his friends and family member to the beach on his birthday to clean up the beach. Pictured are the party-goers with the many bags of garbage they collected.
Schuler Celebrates 100th Birthday Martha Schuler turned 100 on March 20. She was born on March 20, 1908 and grew up in Brooklyn. During World War II, she volunteered at various United Service Organizations throughout New York City, helping to serve, dance and sing with servicemen. She has been a resident at West Lawrence Care Center since 2003.
Phillips and Mangiacasale To Wed In April Angela Phillips is pleased to announce the engagement of her parents, Phyllis Mangiacasale and Richard Phillips Jr. Phyllis is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Anthony Mangiacasale. Richard is the son of Richard Phillips Sr. of Pennsylvania and Mary Phillips of Florida. The couple plans to wed in April in the Pocono Mountains.
Pineiro Graduates From Boot Camp Elizabeth and Candido Pineiro of Belle Harbor are proud to announce the graduation of their daughter, Brianne, from US Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois. In a class of 684 recruits, 660 men and 24 women, Pineiro graduated at the top of her class, as number one recruit. In recognition of her superior academic and athletic accomplishments at boot camp, she was presented with a gold watch and a gold cutlass. She will go on to Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida for 42,weeks, and then to San Diego for five years.
