Firefighters from a number of local fire companies responded on Tuesday afternoon to a smoky fire on the boardwalk at Beach 59 Street. Police sources say that two teens were observed running from the scene just as bystanders called news of the growing fire to the 911 emergency system at 1:15 p.m., but cops were unable to corral the two. Firefighters arrived on the scene just minutes after the call and had to tear down a retaining wall to get to the fire.
