The Boardwalk Needs Lights

Dear Editor,

The street lamps on the boardwalk from Beach 122 Street to Beach 126 Street have been out since February 14. I called 311 on Friday, February 15 to complain, and I was told it was the Parks department's problem and it would take 10 to 15 days for someone to come out and investigate. I was given complaint number C1-1-378- 238-265.

On the 16th, I called back 311 to ask why it would take 10 to 15 days to investigate this issue and was told the complaint number I was given was incorrect, that it was a DOT matter and was issued a new complaint number, 4122256. Again, I was told it would take 10 to 15 days. I then called Councilman Addabbo's office and was told he would be returning my call Tuesday, the 19th. As of today he has not returned my call.

On February 23, I called 311 for an update. I was told they are still investigating, and was issued yet another complaint number, 412235. They also told me I was not the only person to complain, that they had numerous complaints on file.

On March 1, I called 311 and was told complaint number 412235 was not in their system. I gave the prior complaint number from February 16, and was told it would be 30 days before the matter was corrected. I called Addabbo's office and left a message for him to call me back.

It is not safe for the lights to be out this long. People walking their dogs, jogging or taking walks at nights are all walking in total darkness. This is unacceptable. I would appreciate any help in this matter.
