The Rockaway Relay for Life is in full gear with the kickoff party held this past Thursday night at the Irish Circle. If you missed the party do not worry you can still be a part of the event. The 9th annual event is being held this year at Riis Park on June 28. Please help make this year's Relay the best one yet!

The Shea Stadium Relay for Life on May 17 is looking for volunteers for the

Cancer Prevention Study - 3.

The day of the Relay at Shea researchers will be enrolling people into a long term study aimed at giving more information to the health community in regards to the link between cancer and other lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors. Please go to www.cancer. org for more information in regards to the study or contact Leslie Orlovsky the staff partner from the American Cancer Society at 718-263-2225, ext 5526.

Kutting for a Kause 2008 is quickly approaching. The annual event is being held once again at the Irish Circle on May 31 starting at 2 p.m. For the second year the Square Rooters and Wine with Sue will be playing. Whole In One for the third year will be headlining. To date Kutting for a Kause has raised $45,000 and collected 75+ ponytails for Locks of Love and Saint Baldrick's. Please mark your calendars for the very important and fun event!

Due to seniority reasons, Erik Johnson will no longer be the permanent mailman in Roxbury. We will all miss him and hope he will be back soon!

The Roxbury Saint Patrick's Day Party is being held at the Mayor's Committee on Saturday, March 8. It is $30 ahead of time, and $35 at the door. See you there!

Fitness For Life Expo

Seniors In Shape will host a Fitness For Life Expo on Thursday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Aviator Sports and Recreation, Floyd Bennett Field, Hangar 5. The event is free to anyone 55 years-of-age or older.

The expo is sponsored by Healthcare Partners, IPA; Affinity Health Plan; Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; Metroplus Health Plan; Secure Horizon Oxford; AARP; Shoreview, Rehabilitation and Health Care Center; One-on-One Physical Therapy; and Maimonides Medical Center. Representatives from health care, financial companies, government agencies and local businesses will be available to assist on senior issues.
