Rockaway Fisheads Host Annual Irish Day Celebration
This Saturday marks the celebration of Irish culture on the Rockaway peninsula, and the Fisheads are once again ready to host their annual postparade "Green Gala".
Your local Rugby club (the reigning Metropolitan Rugby Union Division 2 Champions), the Rockaway Fisheads, will keep the party going after the marching stops with a star-studded lineup of traditional Irish music, mixed with local pop talent.
Doors open at the Rugby Clubhouse at 2:00 p.m. and you should get there early. Appearing onstage at 3:00 p.m. sharp will be New York's most popular Irish music attraction.....THE ONE AND ONLY, SHILELAGH LAW.
Appearing for the fourth consecutive year, Shilelagh Law will kick off the show, since their heavy schedule during St. Patrick's month requires their presence elsewhere later in the evening.
Not to worry, though. The Fisheads have booked an array of sensational acts to follow the headliners late into the evening.
The SCREAMING ORPHANS, four very attractive sisters late of Donegal, Ireland will make their local debut and promise to be an exciting act that should not be missed.
Also appearing at some point in the evening will be legendary local favorites, WINE WITH SUE.
If you have not attended this event before, those who have will tell you....it is second to none. So mark it on your calendar and be there this Saturday at the Rugby Clubhouse at 2:00 p.m. (113 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard). Get situated up close and settle in for an afternoon and evening of adult beverages, Irish culture and great music.
Your friendly host, Grouch McCann, will be there to greet you and welcome you with his trademark smile. Other members of your champion Fisheads will also be on hand and ready to take pictures and sign autographs, if you so desire....or not.
See you there and have a great time. Most of all...be safe and drink responsibly.
