USPS Announces Postal Positions Exams

The United States Postal Service announces the exams for postal positions in the triboro district - Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island Zip Code 110 area. Registration for the following exams is from February 11 to May 4, 2008: Building Equipment Mechanic (BEM), announcement 225126; Maintenance Mechanic, announcement 225126 (same as BEM); Mail Processing Equipment Mechanic, announcement 225135; Electronic Technician, announcement 225146; Custodial Maintenance- eligible veterans only, announcement 225152; and Auto Mechanic - requires valid state CDL 'A' or 'B' driver's license, announcement 225140. Registration for letter carrier, announcement 225117, is from February 18 to February 29.

Applicants must pass a written examination and pre-employment suitability requirements.

Applicants must first attain a minimum score of 70 percent (exclusive of veteran preferences) on written examination. To qualify for postal employment, an applicant must be drug-free and have a vision of 20/40 (SNELLEN) in one eye and the ability to read, without strain, printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted.
