February Is American Heart Month

In honor of American Heart Month, St. John's Episcopal Hospital will offer free screening for high blood pressure and cholesterol as a community service on Thursday, February 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The screening will be held in the Hospital's lobby which is located at 327 Beach 19 Street.

Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death among women and men in the United States. Since 1963 Congress has required the President to declare February as American Heart Month to raise awareness of the dangers of heart disease.

At St. John's Episcopal Hospital, the Section of Cardiology offers highly trained specialists as well as a Cardiology Clinic in the Ambulatory Care Center. Testing for heart diseases, including nuclear medicine stress testing and echocardiograms, are also offered. To find a cardiologist, call the Physician Referral Line at 718-869-7322 or to make an appointment at the Cardiology Clinic, call 718-869- 7690.
