Smith spoke with New York State Bar Association's (NYSBA) President, Kathryn Grant Madigan, and recipient of the Trailblazer Award, Taa Grays, about judicial diversity at the NYSBA Annual meeting. He was the keynote speaker at the "celebrating diversity event" and spoke about the fact that the New York State judicial system does not reflect the State's gender, ethnic and geographic diversity. "New York State needs a fairly and proportionally balanced judicial system," said Smith. "That will be the case when we bring more minority and women to the bench."
