Poor Lighting In Redfern

The following letter was written to the general manager of the New York City Housing Authority, Doug Apple.

Dear Editor,

I write to you in reference to the poorly lit, dull lighting in the courtyard of the Redfern Houses located in Far Rockaway. I have received several complaints from community members regarding the imminent danger they encounter on a daily basis, especially after dark.

Recently, we have witnessed yet another murder on the grounds of Redfern. I have been informed the lack of proper lighting in the courtyard adds fuel to the violence in the area.

I am also requesting NYCHA to consider using a more durable lock for doors in the complex, because the current locks have easily been damaged continuously by trespassers on the premises.

Mr. Apple, I am requesting you to immediately change the light bulbs in the courtyard. I want to ensure my constituents can travel to and from their destinations without facing harm.

JAMES SANDERS JR.
