Eric Ulrich, Republican District Leader; Dr. Geraldine M. Chapey, co-chair of the Rockaway Catholic Jewish Conference; the Gelda's and the Dufficy's. The Rockaway Catholic Jewish Council (RCJC) held its fourth annual dinner at the West End Temple. There were over 150 people in attendance. The RCJC was formed by Rabbi Allan Blaine, Rabbi Joseph Weiss and Father Jack, 22 years ago to promote interfaith understanding and tolerance. They recognized that people of the Catholic and Jewish faiths can establish bonds that create a strong community.
During the dinner, Stanley and Elaine Gelda, and Judge Timothy and Mary Dufficy were honored for their contributions to interfaith harmony in the community.
The RCJC and Queens Borough President Helen Marshall presented citations to the honorees. The Gelda's and the Dufficy's were also recognized for their support of the programs offered by the RCJC.
