PHC GI Chief Expands Practice To Five Towns Area

Peninsula Hospital Center's Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, Jay K. Mehlman, MD. Peninsula Hospital Center's Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, Jay K. Mehlman, MD. Peninsula Hospital Center, affiliate of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, is pleased to announce that Dr. Jay Mehlman, Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, has opened an additional private practice location to further serve the community in gastroenterology and liver disease in the Five Towns community of Cedarhurst.

The new office will make Dr. Mehlman's private practice more readily available to a wider range of the patient population served by Peninsula Hospital Center. It is conveniently located at 123 Maple Avenue in Cedarhurst, (516) 295-2640. This new location is in addition to Dr. Mehlman's Rockaway office, located at 121-05 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, in Rockaway Park.

Dr. Mehlman has been an active member of the Medical staff at Peninsula Hospital Center since 2001 and currently directs its state of the art Endoscopy Unit. Dr. Mehlman received his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed his residency at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and his fellowship at the Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. He was appointed Chief of Gastroenterology at the Hospital Center in 2005 by President and Chief Executive Officer Robert V. Levine.
