Sa'Niya Turns One Sa'Niya Apiphany Thorpe turned oneyear old on Thursday, January 10. She will celebrate her special day with friends and family on Saturday, January 12. Sa'Niya is the daughter of Sasha Hawkins and Bobby Thorpe. aPHC Welcomes New Nursing Manager Peninsula Hospital Center, an affiliate of the North Shore/LIJ Health System, recently welcomed Kimberly Branche, R.N., as one of its Nurse Managers. Branche will be in charge of the Two North Unit at the Hospital Center. She joins the nursing staff at PHC directly from New York Presbyterian Hospital, but her extensive training has included Westchester Medical Center, Hospital for Special Surgery and several years as a traveling nurse. After spending time with her ailing grandfather in high school, Branche decided that she wanted to join many of her family members in a career in medicine and attended the Catholic Medical Center School of Nursing. Even though she has experienced the atmosphere of "big city hospitals", she is enjoying the warm and caring community atmosphere she has found at Peninsula Hospital Center. "Everyone has been so helpful and friendly. It is wonderful to work with staff so conscientious and diligent about the care they provide." Kimberly Branche, R.N., Aman Kaur Sekhon, DO, has recently joined the Pediatrics Department of St. John's Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Sekhon serves as an attending in the Pediatric Clinic of St. John's Ambulatory Care Center. She is board-certified in Pediatrics.
Dr. Sekhon completed her residency at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. She is a graduate with honors of the Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Osteopathy Medical Program of the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY, where she also was named to the Presidential Honor List for Academic Excellence, the National Dean's List and also received the Outstanding Service Award for Significant Contributions to NYIT.
As a part of her residency, Dr. Sekhon has worked at the St. John's Pediatric Clinic for three years, as well as at Schneider Children's Hospital, New Hyde Park, NY, and St. Stephen's Hospital, New Delhi, India.
