      Friends of Mike Glover and Xavier High School will host its first annual Michael Glover Xavier High School Scholarship Fund on January 19. The event will be held in the gymnasium of Xavier High School, located at 30 West 16 Street, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Accessing An Accident At Beach 124 Street
     The unidentified driver of an Access-A-Ride automobile from TFM Paratransit Company stands near his auto, reporting an accident between his vehicle and another at Cronston Avenue and Beach 124 Street on Saturday morning, January 5. An eyewitness at the scene told a Wave photographer that the Access-ARide vehicle ran a stop sign at the corner, striking an auto going eastbound on Cronston Avenue. Nobody was hurt in the accident and there were no passengers in the Access-A-Ride vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Business Leaders Network At PHC Card Exchange
RDRC, Chamber, REMA, Keyspan Host Get-Together
     A large crowd of business leaders and officials showed up at the Peninsula Hospital Center on Monday evening for a business card exchange and discussion hosted by the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation, the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce, the Rockaway East Merchants Association and Keyspan Energy. More than 100 business owners and officials showed for the event. Those who attended viewed a number of business presentations and had a chance to network by exchanging business cards and discussing the state of business in Rockaway.

Debt Clinic Set To Debut At Queens Civil Court
Every Friday, Begins January 25
      Residents of Queens County will soon have a new resource to assist them in dealing with consumer debt cases in civil court. The Civil Legal Advice and Resource Office (CLARO) will be opening an office at Queens Civil Court. CLARO, a free walk-in clinic, will offer legal advice for people representing themselves in consumer debt cases.

PHC Drills For Emergencies
     Under the guidance of Peninsula Hospital Cent4er (PHC) Director of Safety, Julie Hassing and PHC Security Director, Michael Valentino, members of the Emergency Command Team practiced procedures to prepare for emergency situations. Regular HEICS (Hospital Emergency Incident Command System) drills are held so that in the event of a true emergency, Hospital Center staff will be prepared to handle any emergency situation which might arise. Raising Funds For The St.Patrick's Day Parade
      The Queens County St. Patrick's Day parade kicked off its fundraising season with a dance, which was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, in November. The upcoming Hearts and Shamrock dance, which takes place on Sunday, January 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Camillus, Springman Hall, Beach 100 Street, will continue the events leading to the St. Patrick's Day parade.

Red Cross Sets February Safety,Preparedness Classes
      The Queens Red Cross has scheduled a number of courses in February that include full day programs that teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to administer to adults, children and infants to help save a life.       On Dec. 30, the youngest members of the Rockaway Theatre Company bid farewell to the 2007 theatrical season with a visit to The Aviator Sports and Recreation Complex at Floyd Bennett Field. Youngsters who appeared in the RTC productions of Oliver and Rockaway Café '07 were invited to a Pizza Party at the Aviator Food Court.

Aircraft Arriving Too Close For Comfort?
     Just how crowded are the skies over the Rockaways? These two planes flew over Beach 9 Street at 3:18 p.m. on Saturday, December 29. They were the third or fourth pair to fly over the area, in such close proximity to each other, in less than a half hour period. Two Graffiti 'Artists' Busted By 101 Precinct
