Home From Iraq For The Christmas Holidays

Specialist Richard Louis Flanders returned to Rockaway from an eightmonth tour in Iraq on December 23, just in time to spend the holidays with his loved ones. Flanders is assigned to the First Calvary Division, 3-8 Brigade. This ends his second tour of duty in Iraq. During his first deployment, Flanders served with the Army Corps of Engineers in its civil engineering battalion. Flanders is the grandson of the late Louis Valentine and Helen Moynihan Ritter of Rockaway Point. Both of his grandfathers were in the Navy during both WW II and the Korean conflict. His parents are Maureen Ritter of Rockaway and Richard Flanders of Floral Park. For more photos, see page 16.
