Public School 215 Participates in the Penny Pool Opening

Students from PS 215, along with 22 other "Schools of Excellence," were invited to be ambassadors of their school and participate in the official opening of the Penny Harvest Field at Rockefeller Center. The Field holds more than one million dollars in pennies from all 800 Penny Harvest Schools. The pennies collected will be donated to local charities and organizations.

Students and chaperones joined Teddy and Nora Gross, founders of the Penny Harvest, Silda Wall Spitzer, first lady of New York State, and other guests, as they unveiled a pool of pennies. The pennies were collected from every participating school in all five boroughs.

Afterwards, the students visited the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, viewed the window décor of Saks Fifth Avenue and admired the architecture of St. Patrick's Cathedral.
