All In The Crime Family
By Nicholas Briano

A mother and her son were just two of the three thieves busted by 101 Precinct cops, charged with breaking into a Far Rockaway home in the middle of the day on December 16 in an attempt to come away with some early Christmas riches, police say.

The thieves were spotted by witnesses, who told responding police officers that they observed 19-yearold Steven Becca climbing down a fire escape ladder from the second floor of 25-6 Collier Avenue at 1:40 p.m., according to court records supplied by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

The Mother, Jacqueline Becca, 49, was on the lookout in the front yard with the third suspect, James Alan, 47, of Far Rockaway, while the teen headed up the fire escape ladder and rummaged through the upstairs bedroom, eventually coming away with a ring, two necklaces, and two watches.

Responding police officers had already collared the two older suspects and were waiting for Becca when he came down the ladder.

The younger Becca, who lives with his mother at 130-69 230 Street in St. Albans, was found with the jewelry in his pants pocket at the time of arrest and later confessed to having burglarized the home, police said.

All three suspects have been arraigned and charged with burglary, petit larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property, according to the Queens District Attorney's Office.

According to a spokesperson for DA Brown, all three were released on their own recognizance for a hearing scheduled for January 7, 2008.
