Sorrentino Center Hosts Double Dutch Holiday Classic

The Sorrentino Recreational Center (18-48 Cornaga Avenue) will present the 17th Annual Double Dutch Holiday Festival Tournament on Friday, December 28. The event will start from 11 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.

First, second and third place awards will be handed to the Advanced and Novice Division. Teams will range from third grade through high school. Teams from N.Y.C. and Long Island will compete. For more information, please contact Stan Brown at 718-471-4818.

The Stan Pepper Steppers were just too fast for the competition last week as they gained top honors at the How Fast Are Your Feet Tournament in the Bronx on Saturday, December 15.

The Pepper Steppers were named best of tournament for winning the 2- miute speed test in the advanced division. The tournament took place at I.S. 219 in the Morrisania section of the Bronx.

The advanced division winners were Laa'neisha Jones, Alaisyia Woodard, Katherine Rocha, Robeisha Davis, Peter Alvarez, Jessica Berrios, Nadine Harrison, Jasmine Hamlet and Shameeka McCoy.

The Ppper Steppers also competed in the Novice Division; Imani Clairsaint, Tiffany Duarte, Oksana Bonny, Akeela Williams, Niyah Ensley, Ty-aja Wade and Brianna Murphy.

The coaches and officials were Stan Brown, Linda Brown and Carol Walker.
