SFDS CYO Teams Win Road Victories

With the focus placed on the holidays and the St. Francis Christmas Tournament, it was a relatively quiet CYO weekend for SFDS.

The Intermediate girls had to wait a week for their trip to St. Thomas More. Erin Nuszer spearheaded the second half defense that put the game out of reach as St. Francis won, 32-15.

Paige Whelan and Maegen Reed scored key baskets during the deciding stretch. The Rookie and Bantam Boys teams both traveled to Holy Child and came home with easy victories.

Mike Buckley scored 20 points and Eamonn Gavigan added 11 points for the Bantams. Nick Tsatsis added 6 points and Alex Moule once again controlled the paint.

The Pee Wee Blue eased past St. Rose, as Ryan Moran notched 10 points, and Brian Ostrander and Matt DeCrescenzo had 4 points each. Also scoring for the Blue were John O'Connor, Sean Meier, and Matt Erhard.

The Pee Wee Gold suffered their first loss at Gate of Heaven, before rebounding with a big win in the SFDS Christmas Tournament. The CYO season will resume on the first weekend of 2008.
