There is a Santa
Dear Editor,

Seaside Community Adult Center wishes to thank all the Rockaway community for their support in our darkest hour, when our center was closed by the city for a leaking roof and other safety problems in the building. Thank you, Rockaway Park Center, for opening your center to us. To our sister center at Beach 38 Street, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, a new year with good health to all. To the editor of The Wave, thank you for printing our letters in your paper; it helped to get us back home to our center, where we are getting a whole new roof and other work is to be done inside. Our lunch is a good deal for $1 (senior price). However, $2 (for non-seniors) is also a real deal. Breakfast is a good start for your day; the price is right - 50 cents - and no, it's not coffee and a bagel! Shopping trips are back just in time, and medical trips to doctors; call Lena at 718-634-1215. All other center business, call 718-634-4047. We are having our first Chinese auction on the same day as our holiday party; maybe Santa will be there! Oh! Oh! Mark the date, December 21. All new prizes, you could win (you've got to be in it to win it). So come and be merry with us at Seaside Center. Everybody loves a party with good food and friends and a Chinese auction. Our sewing class is up and running again. Our painting class is back, calling all artists and wannabees - you must see the painted eye, yes, an eye; also, the lady bug so real; a rock is not just a rock, art is in the eye of the beholder, come see for yourself. Other programs will be back soon - exercise, bingo, discussions on current events, etc. Also, a thank you to the First Congregational Church on Beach 94 Street, for allowing us to rent some space in their church hall during our displacement from our center. I miss not seeing the church's black cat, that greeted us each morning when we came to the hall; she made us feel all was good with the world. To all the seniors, happy holidays and good health in the new year. Stop in and have a hot cup of coffee or tea, or just to warm up (weather permitting).

B. SULLIVAN
