Mild Weather Brings Out Crowds For 'Little North Pole'

With a mild evening and lots of hype, thousands of residents crowded Neponsit Avenue from Beach 144 Street to Beach 146 Street on Saturday evening for the annual lighting of the "Little North Pole" at the home of Joseph and Maritza Mure. The event, which acts as a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Fund as well as for the diabetes center at Peninsula Hospital Center, provided lots of entertainment, ranging from Chinese martial arts experts to dancing reindeer, food and the thrill of watching the thousands of lights and mechanical devices around the Mure home come to life.
