Creating Educational Success

State Senator Malcolm A. Smith applauds the organizers and participants in his second educational conference, which was held on December 5.

"Everyone agrees that education is the key to creating a sound and vibrant New York State for future generations. I created my education committee to enable parents to work with schools and community leaders to determine the best course of action when it comes to their children," Senator Smith said.

The 16 workshops covered during the conference addressed such concerns as school safety and security, academic testing, special education, and public/private agency resources and information.

"The most important thing we can do for parents is to simplify the process, and make our school system 'user friendly.' That way, parents can easily address the concerns they have." Smith said.
