Flu Season has Arrived; Get Vaccinated

Congressman Gregory W. Meeks, Assemblywoman Michele Titus, city agencies, community-based organizations and UnitedHealth Group are working together, to ensure that Far Rockaway residents get flu shots this season. According to a recent report by the New York City Department of Health (DOH), the city is failing to achieve its flu immunization goal for individuals, ages 65 and over, in various ethnic and medically underserved communities.

"The winter chill has arrived, and flu season as well," said Congressman Meeks. "Now is the time to get your shot before the flu season peaks early in the new year. It's not too late to get vaccinated."

UnitedHealth Group, through its subsidiaries, is underwriting the cost of thousands of flu shots. For more information about the flu, the flu shot, and to get a complete list of flu shot clinics, call 311 or visit www.cdc.gov/flu/.
