for larger version       Betty Russell Rockaway Resident Betty Russell, a longtime Rockaway resident, died November 21. She was 97. Russell was born in New Jersey on September 4, 1910. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She served with the Dorcas Missionary Society, Women's Worker Leaders, Women's Forum, Senior Choir and the Stamp Collectors Club. Russell was also a member of the Women's Industrial Service League of Far Rockaway. She is survived by her nephews, Theodore O'Kelly and Thomas Russell; nieces, Harriet Bryant, Marion Russell, Gloria Nelson and Frances Wilson; dear friends, Alfay Small and Minnie Pearl Harris; Pastor Duane Sleet; and the First Baptist Church family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation and services were held at the First Baptist Church. Interment was at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, New York.
