for larger version       Henri Newsome Retired Conductor Henri Newsome, a longtime Rockaway resident, died November 30. He was 67. Newsome was born in Aikens, South Carolina on September 25, 1940. He moved to Rockaway Beach as a teenager. He was worked with several community boards and coached the Rockaway A's organization. He is survived by his mother, Doshie Newsome; wife, Maxine; children, Greselda and Willie Hawkins, Theodora and Angela Newsome and Brenda Whylie; grandchildren, Ebony, Kimberly and Jarrett Taylor, Willie, Andrienne, Timothy, Tyrell and Edwina Hawkins, Jessica and Kevin Whylie, Tenis Lee, Bernice Still, Melissa John, and Omari Fajardo; grandchild, Teron Whylie; sisters, Louise Deas and Helen Newsome; brothers, Theodore, Leon, and Charles; sisters-in-law, Clara White, Ann Morhead, Roberta Goldstein and Nancy Jones; brothers-in-law, Tom and Henry Cheeks; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Interment was at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
