Giving Thanks
Dear Editor,

This past week, Daniel M. O'Connell Post 272 of the American Legion in Rockaway sent 14 holiday packages to Rockaway residents serving in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. We would like to thank those in the Rockaway community who identified these 14 individuals to us; St. Adalbert's School in Elmhurst for donating a lot of "goodies" for these packages; and St. Camillus School, which gave the proceeds of their June Carnival to help to defray the cost of mailing the packages. Finally, we give a very big "thank you" to postal employee Berico Catalano at the Rockaway Park post office, who opened early and processed these packages. I know that the cooperative efforts of those involved will help make this holiday season a little bit brighter for our overseas heroes.

VINNIE CALIMANO
