Lanett Playground to be Restored

Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer is pleased to announce that the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) Grant included funding for the restoration of Lanett Playground in Far Rockaway.

$500,000 has been allocated for The City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation to begin the design, scope and restoration of the Lanett Playground in Far Rockaway, the only playground in the West Lawrence section of the community. The full project will include the addition of an ADA-accessible comfort station, water play feature, playground equipment for toddlers, improved lighting, fencing and a basketball court.

"The vital restoration is essential to our community and the funding will begin the much needed improvements to Lanett Playground," said Pheffer. Assemblywoman Pheffer voted in favor of increasing the EPF funding to $250 million in this year's budget. She also earmarked $15,000 in local initiative funding to the New Yorkers for Parks in the 2007-2008 budget, to begin design of the Lanett Park Playground.
