for larger version       William J.Lyons DOT Inspector William J. Lyons, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died November 24. Lyons, a site Inspector with the Department of Transportation, was born in Rockaway Beach. He was a student at St. Francis de Sales School, Brooklyn Prep High School and York College. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna Godsil Lyons. He is survived by his brothers, James and Michael (Jacqueline); sisters, Maureen Vitale (James) and Patricia Cominos; and nieces, Melissa Harnish and Sarah Cominos.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with visitation to be held on Friday, November 30, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1 at 9:45 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church. All other arrangements were kept private.
