Arms and legs belonging to the same victim were later found in a plastic bag miles away in Suffolk County. DNA tests done in Suffolk linked the body parts to a torso found clad in a skirt, black body suit and tank top in Arverne on December 17, 2002. At that time, police officers and detectives from the 100 Precinct responded to an anonymous tip that there was a body in a plastic bag on Beach 63 Street near the boardwalk. In the bag, police said at the time, was a partial human torso without a head or extremities.
It took Suffolk County police officials more than a year-and-a-half to identify the victim as Andre Jamal Isaac, 25, of East New York. Detectives showed the photo to transvestites in Manhattan. In May of 2004, one drag queen identified him as "Sugar Bear." Another of the transvestites knew of Isaac's real name, and his mother was tracked down on Long Island. Suffolk police officials say that one of her son's friends had seen him leaving with a "secret friend" just before Thanksgiving of 2002, and he was never heard from again. "He was a talented female impersonator and dancer who would enter contests all over the east coast," his mother said. "He was a big bear. No matter what his lifestyle, he was still a human being."
