PHC Honors Several 'Employees Of the Month'
These special employees are honored for their high degree of professionalism, respect, initiative and for the dedication and empathy that they routinely demonstrate in the performance of their duties. Kathleen M. Lawless was named PHC's August Employee of the Month. Lawless is the lead telecommunications operator for PHC. She was nominated for the distinction of Employee of the Month by fellow employees, who find her to be pleasant, calm and courteous to everyone. She is described as a top-notch troubleshooter who is very apt at listening attentively to all situations that arise via incoming calls and directing patients and families to the appropriate departments for resolutions of their concerns. Janet Akinsulire, RN, is a registered nurse who is assigned to 4 Ocean in the PCECR. She was nominated by her supervisors for the distinction of the August 2007 Employee of the Month, because of her ability to work quietly and efficiently under very little supervision. She is lauded for her decision making ability and because of the amount of respect that she garners from the patients under her care. Akinsulire is considered a true professional who deals respectfully with fellow staff members, patients and visitors alike.
Kathy Zimmer, RN is the Assistant Head Nurse in PHC's Endoscopy Department and its October 2007 Employee of the Month. Zimmer was nominated by her supervisor for consistently going beyond her call of duty. She is described as a critical part of the endoscopy team who eagerly and cheerfully volunteers in areas outside of her job description, in order to assist physicians and promote excellent patient care. She is highly thought of as a dedicated and professional nurse who puts her patients at ease with her cheerful and concerned temperament. Marie Giordanella is the Administrative Secretary of the Admini- stration Department in the PCECR. She is described by supervisors of the PCECR as an exceptional professional who is kind, funny, hardworking and extremely dedicated to her job. Giordanella is considered an extremely reliable assistant to Janet Miele- Powers, Sr. V.P. and Administrator of PCECR. She is a pleasure to work with and missed if she is gone for only a day.
November's Employee of the Month is Joyce Little, RN, who is the Director of the PCECR's Adult Day Health Care Program. She was nominated by her peers, who commend her dedication to her registrants and praise her efforts to expand the program whenever she is able. Little's attitude is always upbeat and her high spirits contagious. She has worked on and off in several departments of PHC since 1989. She is highly respected and admired by so many individuals with whom she has dealings. If you were to ask Little, she would tell you that her greatest claim to fame has to be the dozens upon dozens of residents who think of her as their own confidante, counselor and friend.
