Contestants Make The Big Catch At Surfishing Contest
By Kevin Brown
When the organizers schedule, a outdoor event month in advance, on the beach in late October, they needed two things; luck and really good friends.

Tom Murphy congratulates his brother Jimmy for catching the smallest fish at this year's contest.
Both came true for this year's 13th annual Surfishing Contest, dedicated to our friend Jack Gallagher with temperatures hovering near the 80 degree mark.

Judge George Murphy had his hands full officiating over two dozen fish caught.

Sean Bern won the coveted Rod & Reel for the biggest fish. Long time sponsors Tom and Crissy of Healy's Pub at Beach 108 Street donated the spirits. They were joined this year by Tom and George of Curran Meats on Beach 129 Street, who supplied the anglers and the lunch time barbecue meats for Bobby Regan to cook up.

Call Curran Meats at 718-634-7408 to order their Chateau Briand. Pick up this paper to be hooked on the neverending story of all the anglers next year.
