Rockaway Flag Football Players Fall Short In Citywide Playoffs

Team G-Way players and coaches represented Queens in the citywide flag football playoffs last Saturday.
Two Sorrentino Recreational Center flag football teams fought hard, but ended just a point short from winning the citywide NFL/PAL/ Parks and Recreation Flag Football League Championship last weekend.

On Saturday, November 10 at East River Park in Manhattan, the 8-11 and 12-14 year-old teams from the Sorrentino Center were the Queens representatives in the citywide playoffs.

Team G-Way represented the 8-11 division and advanced to the semifinals. But they lost in a heartbreak game in overtime to the Bronx.

Team G-Way represented the Sorrentino Center in the 12-14 year old division. In an exciting semifinal matchup against Staten Island, the Rockaway flag footballers fell one point short in advancing to the final, 39-38.

The Sorrentino Recreational Center would like to congratulate the flag footballers for displaying a good effort in the playoffs and throughout the season.
