Carter was born on June 12, 1958 in Mineola, New York. He was preceded in death his father Jasper Newton Jr.; brother, Troy Newton; and sister, Stephanie Carter. Carter is survived by his mother, Camilla Kay Carter; sons, Kevin, Dylan, Kevin Carter II, and Kareem Smith; daughters, Chasity Carter, Shakeia, Tyeissha, Antoinette, and Ashley Smith; grandchildren, Jameel, Quemari, Corey, Nevah, Alexes, Perry, Nitori, Zakeia, Elijah, Kayjah, Kevin, and Breeanna; brother, Carlton; sisters, Marcine Newton, Monchell Haynes and Cynthia Carter-Grandison; his wife, Michelle Gaines-Carter; family and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation and services were held at Gaffney's Friendship chapel. Interment was at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale.
