G-Way Hoists Sorrentino Flag Football Trophy

Two flag football teams from the Sorrentino Recreational Center/ NFL/ PAL/ Parks and Recreation Flag Football League won their respective divisional championships this past Election Day.

A total of 8 eight games, including the playoffs and championships, were held at O'Donahue Park.

In the 8-11 year old championship, Sorrentino G-Way came back from a 13-0 halftime deficit to win 19-13 in a thrilling finish over Sorrentino Grimey. G-Way scored two touchdowns in the last five minutes of the game.

In the 12-14 year old divisional championship, G-Way defeated Team Green Sox, 40-6.

The winning teams will advance to the citywide championship and represent the borough of Queens on Saturday, November 10 at East River Park in Manhattan.

The 8-11 G-Way team will face the Bronx in the first round. G-Way will need to beat Manhattan and Staten Island/Brooklyn to win t he title.

The 12-14 G-Way team will need to defeat Staten Island and two other teams to hoist the championship trophy.

Stan's Pepper Steppers demonstrated their skills at the IMG New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 4.
