Ruby Dee and Medicare Unite for Community Health Fair

The Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will join the Antioch Baptist Church for an afternoon of "Health and Spirituality: A Day of Awareness," on Sunday, November 4, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be held at the Antioch Baptist Church, located at 826 Greene Avenue, in Brooklyn.

Seniors and their caregivers will be educated about the preventive benefits available through Medicare. Special guests include legendary actress and senior activist, Ruby Dee; Congressman Edolphus "Ed" Towns; and Kerry Weems, Medicare's Acting Administrator. Dee and Towns will speak about the need to make personal health a priority and Weems will address the importance of open enrollment (which runs from November 15 to December 31), and the tools and resources available to Medicare recipients.
