HHS Sets Kickoff For Health Challenge

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will join Aviator Sports and Recreation for the CMS Prevention Challenge Kickoff and the Aviator Sports & Recreation's "Seniors Shape Up" Program. The organizations joined to encourage disease prevention and raise awareness of preventive services through Medicare. On Monday, November 5, HHS, CMS, and Aviator Sports and recreation will host a health event, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Hanger 5, Floyd Bennett Field, in Brooklyn.

During the event, Medicare will provide information about the tools and resources that are available to help beneficiaries make smarter choices about their health coverage during its Fall Open Enrollment period, which runs from November 15 to December 31. During the enrolllment period, people on Medicare will select Medicare health and drug coverage for 2008. In addition, experts will be on-site to assist people on Medicare who cannot afford their prescription drug costs learn more about financial assistance that is available to help pay for their drug coverage.
