for larger version       Far Rockaway Bank Teller Caught Stealing On The Job A bank teller from Far Rockaway has been charged with stealing over $1700 generated from fake money orders deposited at the same Valley Stream bank she worked in, police said. Odessa Wilson, 21, of 337 Beach 46 Street, worked at Nassau Educator's Federal Credit Union, when she thought she might get away with depositing two counterfeit bank money orders into a third-party account. According to police, each of the fake money orders was for $858. The money was then transferred into a personal co-owned account where she improperly spent it. The fraudulent funds were discovered when an internal audit by the bank's fraud investigator showed suspicious activity that prompted a call to authorities.
Officials say the arrest was made by The Crimes Against Property Squad of the Nassau County Police Department at the bank, located on East Merrick Road. Wilson was charged with second degree possession of a forged instrument and fourth-degree grand larceny. She was arraigned in court on October 27.
