Shackle School Misidentified
The school noted in last week's front-page story, "Autistic 12- Year-Old Cuffed, Shackled At FR School" was misidentified by the Department of Education as PS 253 in Far Rockaway. In fact, the school involved in the incident was PS 256 at PS/MS 43 on Beach 29 Street in Edgemere.

The confusion comes from the fact that PS 256 is the designation used for numerous special education units scattered throughout the Rockaway peninsula, including units at PS/MS 43, PS 253 and the former Beth El community center across the street from PS 114.

We regret the misidentification and apologize to the principal and staff of PS 253 for any embarrassment or pain it might have caused them.
