North Fork Bank Robbed Second-Straight Year
Police officers and detectives search for evidence at the North Fork Bank branch at 17- 39 Seagirt Boulevard in Wavecrest, on the afternoon of Monday, October 22. Sources say that a man, estimated to be 5'9'', slim, and wearing a black jacket and sunglasses, walked into the branch at about 1:40 p.m. and passed a deposit slip to the teller demanding money. The deposit slip read "please for all sake, pass the money or?" The man was described as dark-skinned. Sources say that the teller handed $2,700 to the robber, who then fled in an unknown direction. Police say that no arrests have been made and 101 Precinct detectives and the major case squad are investigating. The same North Fork Bank branch was robbed one year ago this week. In addition, a Bank of America branch three blocks away on Central Avenue, was robbed in a similar manner two weeks ago. Police say, however, that they do not think that the same man pulled off both robberies.
