Midget Shamrocks Shut The Door In Defeating Levittown

It was a great day all-around for the Broad Channel Athletic Club Midget Shamrocks as they defeated Levittown 30-12. The nine-year old Shamrock players were all over the place by making great tackles on defense. Great tackles by were made on defense by Anthony Perrotto, Vinnie Finizio, Matt Trudden, Marco Minichino, Nikolaus manzi, Zack Warner, Timmy Panetta and Alex Passarello.

The offense got to work when QB Luke Schreiner scrambled 40 yards for the touchdown to give the Shamrocks a 6-0 lead.

The Shamrocks defense, which was led by four tackles from Andrew Conklin, Brian GaNun, Kenny Mc- Gowan and George Baroudos, would stop Levittown on their next offensive drive.

BCAC responded on their next drive with running back Paulie Yodice (48 yards on 6 carries) leading the charge. Chris Manfres wasn't fa behind as the runningback scampered for a 41 yard touchdown run to increase the lead to 12-0.

Levittown got on the scoreboard to make it 12-6 but BCAC quickly responded. Schreiner connected with running back Chris Manfre for a 56 yard touchdown pass to increase the Shamrocks lead to 18-6.

BCAC cornerback Marco Minichino stepped in front of a Levittown pass attempt for the interception on the next drive. The offense, led by excellent blocks from Mike Perrotto, Billy Collins, Charlie Gavigan and Mike "Rudy" Conneely, gave FB Tom Kelly the chance to run into the end zone. Kelly's 25-yard touchdown run increased the lead to 24-6.

Levittown decreased the lead to 24- 12 on a touchdown score. BCAC iced the game on offense with a 22-yard run by Minichino, a 10-yard run by Vincent Finizio and a 5-yard run by Alex Passarella. Vinnie Sprito finished things off as he gained 21 of his 49 yards on the ground for a touchdown and a 30-12 win.

The Shamrocks made one of their best showing of the week and they thank the fans for their loud support. The coaching staff would like to thank the 10-year old players for sitting out the game and giving the youngsters the opportunity to shine.

This Saturday night, everyone is invited to come out to BCAC Field at 8 p.m. to support the home team against Seaford. Go Shamrocks!
