Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Peninsula Hospital Center, announced this week that Channel Grant, CTR, the Hospital Center's Cancer Registrar, has been honored by the State of New York Department of Health. Grant and the Health Information Management Systems Department were praised by New York State Cancer Registry and will be issued the Cancer Registry organization's first annual "Recognition Certificate for Completeness and Timeliness of Cancer Reporting," based on 2006 cases.
Maria J. Schymura, Ph.D., Director of the Registry, expressed admiration for Grant for her persistence in reporting all of Peninsula Hospital Center's cancer cases in such a time-sensitive manner. "Without facilities' complete, accurate and timely reporting, cancer researchers, planning agencies and public health professionals are not able to accurately assess the burden of cancer on the people of New York," said Dr. Schymura. "We hope that you continue your reporting as you have done in the past - and that you continue to receive future awards."
