Historical Views of the Rockaways
Seen Through a Camera in Far Rockaway, L.I. A Century Ago via Postcard
From The Rockaway Museum Commentary by Emil Lucev,Curator Dedicated To The Memory Of Leon S.Locke

A new postcard mailed a century ago from Far Rockaway, to New Jersey, has been hand delivered to me for addition to my never ending collection of historical postcard views of the Rockaways. When the camera body flap was lifted (on the lens side) a myriad of small views of Far Rockaway was unfolded, accordion fashion, to reveal about two dozen inch by inch and three quarters views published…by Alfonso M. Simon & Company. By careful handling, most of the delicate instrument, mailed 100 years ago, has been copied for presentation today in historical views. All but one have appeared in views over the years, and that is also within my reach for a future views.
