Click Here for More Information Patricia Harlene Grant Patricia Harlene Grant, a longtime Rockaway resident, died September 17. Grant, was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies on March 19, 1934. After coming to the United States, she continued her career in teaching early childhood development. Grant attended Mills College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts, while working at Tompkins Avenue Day Care. She later joined the Albany Avenue Day Care, became director and went to New York University to complete her master's degree. She retired from New York City's Agency for Child Development, where she worked as a consultant, in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Isobel and Aston George Symes; and brothers, Byron Sylvester and Donald. Grant is survived by her husband Cyprian; daughter, Jolene; son-in-law, Charles Norman; siblings, George Stewart, Veronica Viola, Gladstone Roy, Ashton Lloyd (Johnny), Dahlia June, Lester Archibald, Eric Percival, Aubrey Valentine, Wendy Doreen (Pam) and Alison Eileen; grandchildren, Jasmyn, Uriah and Joseph; stepchildren, Ruthlyn, Audrey, Mitchell and Marguerite.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation and services were held at Church of God. Interment was at Springfield Cemetery, in Springfield Gardens.
