Parents: TEA Targets Dismissal At Schools
A number of parents in the west end communities of Belle Harbor and Rockaway Park have complained to The Wave that traffic enforcement officers seem to be appearing with regularity at dismissal times at two local schools - PS 114 and St. Francis de Sales. At both those schools, both school zone rules and no parking any time signs limit parking. In fact, parents claim, there is no legal parking around the schools where they can park for a few minutes in order to safely pick up their young children. Pictured, the cars parked illegally on the beach block of Beach 129 Street. Parents ask that rules be relaxed to allow parking during the time children going to or coming from school or that the DOT agents use a little discretion in issuing tickets during those time periods.
