Midget Shamrocks Prove Too Tough For Visiting Lindenhurst

The Midget Shamrocks would prove too strong for Lindenhurst to handle as Broad Channel Athletic Club continued their good start with a 24-12 victory last weekend. The Shamrocks won their first game of the season two weeks ago by defeating Plainedge, 14-6.

BCAC's victory improved their record to 2-0. The Shamrocks defense, led by Mike Perrotto, Zack Warner, Marco Minichino, Evan Riviere and Paul Yodice forced Lindenhurst to punt from the 2-yard line. A bad snap allowed BCAC's Billy Collins to recover the fumble in the end zone as they took a 6-0 lead.

Tim Panetta, Nick Manzi, Matt Trudden, Brian Ganun, Anthony Perrotto and Joey Gallo all gave strong performances on defense for the Shamrocks.

BCAC's offense then got into the scoring act. RB Chris Manfre scored on a one-yard touchdown run to make it 12- 0. QB Luke Schreiner found WR Tom Kelly over the middle for a 31-yard touchdown pass and the BCAC quarterback completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Gavigan to increase the lead.

Andrew Conklin, Vinny Spirito, and George Baroudos all made key blocks on the Shamrocks offensive line.

The next game will take place at BCAC Field on Saturday, September 22 against Wantagh.

BCAC dedicates the season to Chuck Willsen, who was the basketball commissioner and mentored children for 23 years.

The club and the players will honor the memory of a person who provided great support to the Broad Channel community.
