Seahorses Pick Up Forfeit Victory
By Elio Velez

The Far Rockaway Seahorses will be victors on Sunday even though they don't have to take the field.

Their scheduled opponent on Sunday, George Washington High School, has reportedly canceled the rest of the 2007 varsity season. According to an article in the New York Post, the PSAL will award a victory to Far Rockaway and any other opponent the Trojans would have faced this year.

Far Rockaway would increase their record to 2-1 on the season. The forfeit also gives Beach Channel, who would have faced George Washington on October 13, a victory. Samuel J. Tilden and Campus Magnet had won games via forfeit this season against George Washington. Wilkerson said the week off could be a double-edged sword as they prepare for the September 29 clash against Campus Magnet.

"We're able to heal up because we have a few players who are nicked up. The bad thing is itmight be o be hard to keep kids focused. We got to do that against a good Campus Magnet team," Wilkerson said.
