Bishop Kearney Star Runner Captures Cross Country Medal
Bishop Kearney's cross country team captain Tara Mullen, who resides in Belle Harbor, received a well-deserved hug from her mom, Joanne, for her medal performance at the Saint Joseph Villa Cross Country Invitational, held this past weekend at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx. Mullen was the first Bishop Kearney runner to cross the finish line, after a grueling 2.5 mile race over the rugged hills of Van Cortland. The competition consisted of 175 runners from the tri-state area with Mullen placing 36th overall in the race, which was good enough to be awarded a medal for her efforts. Mullen finished the ace with a time of 17 minutes and 20 seconds, which is an outstanding time for this early in the season. Coach John Lovett, a Rockaway Park native, said he was very impressed with Mullen's performance and her composure throughout the race.
